Lucie Paye and Natasha Lehrer at Ink 84

What is "reality" in fiction and what is "truth" in a literary sense ? Join author Lucie Paye and her translator Natasha Lehrer for discussion on Absence. Lucie Paye’s debut novel, published by Éditions Gallimard in March 2020 was published this year by Les Fugitives in Natasha Lehrer’s translation. An extraordinary and lyrical UK debut listed in the Financial Times’ mid-year best fiction in translation, Absence is set in Paris, Mauritius and London, and tells the stories of an artist and a mysterious woman he obsessively paints and draws.

Author and translator will be interviewed by friend of Les Fugitives, Verso publicist Maya Osborne, to share their perspectives on fiction and literary truth in the context of Annie Ernaux's reception of the Nobel Prize.

Tickets are £5 and include a drink - book here.
