Daunt Books Festival 2026: Michèle Roberts in conversation with Carolyn Boyd

  • Daunt Books Marlyebone (map)

Michèle Roberts’ now iconic recipe book French Cooking For One quickly captured everybody’s hearts when it was published in 2024. Of course, it’s so much more than simply a recipe book, imparting witticisms, sound literary advice and feisty feminism as well as practical skills. It’s about how to nourish yourself in all aspects of life.

Her latest offering, French Cooking For Two: Seasons of Friendship, reunites us with Michèle’s distinctive flair for charming anecdotes but expands on her first book with a new selection of over 170 recipes, handpicked from an array of historical and personal sources. The recipes are designed to be straightforward to follow so you can concentrate on your guest rather than dashing between stove and table. This is a book to stimulate your appetite to invite a dear friend round as soon as possible and cook for them.

The brilliant writer Carolyn Boyd joins the conversation. Carolyn is one of the UK’s leading food and travel writers and an expert on France. She is the author of Amuse Bouche: How to Eat Your Way Around France, a collection of more than 200 stories about the country’s most fascinating and delicious dishes, ingredients, pastries and cheeses.
